Birthday Dinner(s)

Wahoo!  It’s Friday!  Today I am even more relieved than usual that it’s Friday… it’s just been a nonstop, go-go-go, kinda week.  It’s been quite a productive week, an extra special week (Cody’s birthday!), and not by any means a bad week, but nonetheless a busy week!

Last night Cody and I had a wonderful evening out.  We’ve made it a little “tradition” that we go out to dinner, just the two of us, in celebration of each of our birthdays.  Whoever’s birthday it is gets to choose where they want to go out to dinner.  We didn’t get to go out to dinner on Wednesday (his real birthday) because we had our church programs, so I made him a surprise steak dinner.  (Ok, so I tried to make it a surprise, but that didn’t work out so well…he spotted the steak in the fridge.)  See?!  He even looks surprised! ;)

When Tucano’s sent us a free birthday dinner coupon in the mail, Cody immediately knew he wanted to go there.  Tucano’s is a Brazilian steakhouse that is a carnivore’s (my husband) dream.  They have a HUGE salad bar that you can get all-you-can-eat salad, fruit, sushi, pasta salad, rolls, etc.  Then the meat carvers come around with huge rods of a big slab of meat that they slice off for you if you request it, and you can ask for as much or as little as you’d like.  There’s everything from various kinds of chicken and beef to grilled vegetables and grilled pineapple (one of my personal favorites!).  Our meat carver was awesome by the way.

I started out with a big plate of various salads, a few shrimp cocktail, and a couple sushi rolls.  I am not a huge red meat person, so I don’t mind filling up on the salads.  Cody rarely gets anything from the salad bar because he likes to save room for all of the meat.

 One of my favorites that went around was the cod.  It was lightly breaded in a sweet, honey-like sauce.  Yum!

Cody’s favorites were of course all of the various red meats…filet mignon, top sirloin, beef tender, teriyaki beef.

Needless to say, we left quite full but very satisfied.  It was a great evening!

    It looks like you both had a great evening! :)

    I love the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder. It’s a tiny place that makes the BEST pizza pot pies. I will find any excuse to go there.

    I really enjoy red meat. I try not to eat a ton of it though since it’s not that great for you. Still, a steak every now and then is a must :)
