Lovin’ the Love

by Ashley on October 13, 2011

I squealed with excitement when I took these beauties out of their box last week…

I squealed again, (and maybe even a few more times after that) when I looked at the different varieties I got as well as when I saw the nutrition facts on these babies.  Check out these stats!

  • FREE of refined sugar
  • FREE of trans fats
  • FREE of artificial flavors
  • FREE of gluten
  • FREE of high fructose corn syrup
  • FREE of hydrogenated oils
  • FREE of preservatives
  • FREE of genetically modified ingredients

YES PLEASE!  This is real spankin’ food, people – GOOD real spankin’ food at that!  It excites me even more when good food is all natural and real.

When I first got these fantastic bags of Love Grown Foods granola to try, I had a hard time choosing which to open first.  I didn’t want to open all three bags with the fear that I wouldn’t finish them all in time (umm, I’m now realizing that’s not possible as I’m plowing through the bags).

First, I tried the Sweet Cranberry Pecan which initially drew me in because of the pecans – love those things.  It was perfection.  Seriously.  No joke.  The combination of subtly sweet oats with the tartness of dried cranberries and the crunch of pecans made a little party in my mouth.

10 minutes later…

I REALLY wanted to try the others.  I decided we’d only open TWO bags and save the other until we finished at least one of the first bags off.  My husband thought the Apple Walnut Delight sounded the next best, so we opened it up.  We loved it.  My favorite was still the Sweet Cranberry Pecan simply because I’m more of a pecan fan than a walnut fan.  Regardless, the Apple Walnut Delight was fantastic.

10 minutes later…

I couldn’t stand letting the Raisin Almond Crunch granola feel left out – it definitely needed some attention too.  So what did I do?  I ripped open that bag too and don’t regret it one bit.  This one was a close call for my favorite, most likely because of the almonds – love those little babies too.

Oh, and look what else I got?  These little on-the-go packages to put in your purse or lunch.  They’re perfect for taking in your lunch to top yogurt or just eat by itself, of course.  Cute little guys, right?

I’ve been enjoying my granola all sorts of different ways.  You can totally get creative with this stuff!

I’ve had it on my sweet potato…

I’ve had it in my oatmeal (specifically this Zuchinni Bread Oatmeal)…

I’ve had it in my yogurt (yes, it’s in a mug – that’s how I do!)…

I also want to try it in my ice cream, but I haven’t done that yet.  Remember, I’m trying to tone it down on the stuff a bit? :)

And I most definitely eat it out of the bag by the handfuls on frequent occasions.

I would highly recommend you get to Love Grown Foods right this instant or search for this stuff at your local health food store.  You won’t be sad you did.  In fact, you’ll be squealing with excitement when you do.

Questions:

  • Is there a specific kind/brand of granola you buy?
  • How do you enjoy your granola?  Any creative ways?

I’ve never tired love grown, but I just checked out their site and I love their story. It looks like such a great company. I want to try the apple walnut or the cocoa one, I can’t remember what brand of chocolate granola I used to get…looks like I’ll be doing some browsing at the grocery store soon.

The cocoa one does look really good! I was thinking I might buy some after I finish these up…

I love making my own granola – it’s SO easy and SO much cheaper and you can make it as healthy as you want…less oils, no sugar…and do tons of fun stuff with it like add pumpkin or chocolate chips if you’re feeling a little crazy ;)

I totally agree! I’ve made a few of my own too. Check out my pumpkin granola and nutty granola under my recipes!

I can’t imagine receiving all of those different flavors at once and not trying them all out ASAP! My brother gave me this good granola idea last night that I need to try out. He topped some chopped apples with granola, baked it, and voila. Apple crisp.

Haha I eat my yogurt (and often cereal) in a mug too! A bowl is just too big sometimes! And I don’t have a granola brand I buy, I tend to avoid it since it’s so high in calories and I have an issue with not being able to put it down… Cereal in safer in my apartment.

I know what you mean – I usually stay away from granola too. Luckily, this stuff is not as high in sugar as many of the other brands I’ve seen out there. It still is really addicting though…

I love the Bare Naked stuff. Granola is a total weakness for me. I could eat it on anything. I’ve been making it a lot at home because then I can put whatever I want in it.

Yes, granola is a big weakness for me too! I rarely buy it for that very reason. I will sometimes make it myself too – it’s much cheaper and I can make it healthier too!

You’ve found a lot of fantastic granola choices! I love how you added it to sweet potatoes and yogurt. I never would have thought granola and sweet potatoes would be tasty. But you’ve made it look delicious!
