WIAW {What I Ate Wednesday} #6: Seasonal Foods

by Ashley on October 26, 2011

It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means – it’s time for some What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW) talk!  Head on over to Peas and Crayons to find out what it’s all about if this is your first time hearing about WIAW.  If you have your own blog, I would definitely recommend joining in on the fun!

Today’s WIAW features eats from Tuesday (as in yesterday ;) ).  As I was writing this post, I noticed my meals and snacks are quite seasonal!  I’m loving the squash, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin these days.

(Please excuse the recycled photos – I was feeling quite lazy yesterday!)

BREAKFAST

Sweet Potato Pie Oatmeal

(An unpictured hot mug of coffee also accompanied my oatmeal.)

LUNCH

Spaghetti squash with tomatoes, spinach, and marinara sauce

Along with a delicious pear

AFTERNOON SNACK

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Protein Pizookie

DINNER

Cauliflower Crusted Spinach and Tomato Pizza

DESSERT

Pumpkin Ice Cream  (YUM!)

Questions:

  • What have your favorite eats been lately?
  • Have you been eating foods that are “in season”?  (i.e. squash, sweet potatoes, apples, etc.)

Everything looks so yummy! I always eat a ton of sweet potatoes and apples, but I’ve been loving more pears and squash lately.

I tried that ice cream a year or two ago and loved it. I may need to get another carton!

It’s so good. I don’t think the carton will last longer than a week in our house! :)

I love fall foods more than any other season! I’ve been eating my fair share of apples, pumpkin, squash, and Brussels. I still need to pick up some Dreyer’s pumpkin ice cream before the “limited edition” leaves the freezer section!
