How Did I Do?

Can you believe it’s already December 1st?!  My goodness, where did November go?  I was eating my breakfast yesterday and realized that it was the last day of November, which meant I needed to do a recap of my November goals.  My first thought was “Uhhh hopefully I did okay on them!”.  Since November flew by so fast, I didn’t even get a chance to “check in” with my goals periodically to see how I was doing.  I guess this is it, my friends!  Hopefully I did alright on them! ;)  Here goes nothin’!!

 

Below I will list each of the goals I strived for throughout the month of November, and then I will briefly recap on how I did on them.

 

Goal #1:  To stay in tune with my hunger cues and body’s desires so that no binge cycles occur, particularly through the holidays.

I did pretty well with this one.  This has been a goal of mine not only for the month of November, but also for the rest of my life.  I wanted to specifically focus on it throughout the holiday months because I find it more challenging with all of the food and goodies around.  I look back on the month of November, and I feel like I did well with balancing my eats.  I ate healthy most of the time with the occasional indulgence, and truly enjoyed it.  Don’t get me wrong, there were a few times where I was tempted to eat way more than I should’ve because of stress, emotions, boredom, etc., but I fought through it.  It wasn’t easy, but I did it. :)

 

Goal #2:  I am going to take on Tina’s “Be Thankful Challenge” to consciously think of something that I am thankful for each day.

I did great the first couple weeks of November, but then it slowly fell to the wayside as the month went on.  I wish I would’ve done better because I think this was a great challenge.  It really helps you focus on the blessings in your life!

Goal #3:  To practice some sort of yoga routine once a week. 

Uhhh ok, I’ll be straight up on this one – I did terrible with this.  I did ONE yoga workout throughout the entire month of November.  I should’ve done at least FOUR if I accomplished my goal and did one yoga workout per week.  Oh boy, I have some work to do on this…  I do feel like I have made some progress in enjoying yoga though.  I discovered that I like power yoga style workouts better than traditional yoga.  When I did do the power yoga workout, I felt relaxed afterward but somewhat sore the next day in places that I don’t normally feel sore.  This gave me motivation to want to do yoga again.  Too bad I didn’t do another yoga workout for the rest of the month… Oops.

 

Goal #4:  To make a dish that is new and different for our Thanksgiving meal. 

I did this one!  And you better believe I did it darn well.  ;)  I only did it well with the help of Jessica from How Sweet It Is.  She is simply amazing.  Her recipes and photos make me drool on my keyboard every single day.  I wanted to make homemade cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving, but I wanted it to have a little bit of a different twist.  I immediately thought of Jessica, went to her blog, and found exactly what I was looking for.  It was a Cranberry Sauce with Brown Sugar and Pecans.  It sounded intriguing, but nothing too crazy.  It was all I had dreamed about and more.  Perfectly tart, sweet, and tangy – all in one.

Goal #5:  Increase my daily protein intake.

I have been consciously thinking about this one each day as I’m preparing and eating my meals.  I’ve realized how difficult it is to get in enough protein for me!  What can I say, I love my carbs I guess!  This is still something that I’m working toward.  I’ve been doing a lot better than I did before.  I am including more dairy, beans, and lean meats into my diet to help increase my intake.  I have always eaten dairy, beans, and lean meats, but not nearly enough.  I think just being more conscious about it as I’m preparing my meals has helped me a ton.

I guess I didn’t do too bad on my goals!  I’m actually pretty impressed with myself considering I didn’t check in to see how I was doing on them throughout the month.  Most of these goals are goals that I want to carry on with me throughout the rest of my life, not necessarily just in November.  That being said, I hope to continue to work at each of these.  Wish me luck! ;)

    Awesome goals and great job on all of your successes! I’m totally a goal-orientated person but I’ve gotten off track lately. The holidays seem to through me completely out of whack! I’m hoping to get back on track though and set some new goals for this month.

      Thanks! Yes, I agree, the holidays definitely make it more challenging to stay on track with everything… You can do it! :)

    Great job on your goals girl – you rocked them! :) I didn’t make any goals for November – just wanted to get through my NY trip which I think I got through successfully! For December I just want to get through the holiday madness by getting my shopping done early and really be present in all the wonderful moments during this time of year. I have a habit of always looking ahead and anticipating goals for the next year – but this time I just want to be present and in the moment this month :)

    Well done on your goals! That’s great that you can eat healthy most of the time.

    I too am trying to eat more protein- but its hard because I’m basically a carb-aholic and meat doesn’t overly appeal. But am going to work on it!!

    I love to set goals… actually working towards achieving them is harder. But the goal setting and list making- love it ;)
