“Beans, Beans, They’re Good For Your Heart…”

“…the more you eat, the more you fart.”  Or what about the other one: “Beans, beans, the magical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot.”  Please tell me you have heard these little rhymes…  Haha they give me a little chuckle.


I have been obsessed with beans lately.  I’ve always loved ‘em, but I have no idea why I haven’t used them more in my meals until recently.



Some of my favorite things about them?


  • Cheap
  • Easy to prepare
  • Pack in fiber, protein, and carbs all in one = fills me up!
  • Easily accessible (you can find beans anywhere!)
  • They’re so versatile!  I use them in everything from chili to Katie’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip!


Some of my favorite ways to eat beans:


-Atop salads…

-In chili/soups


-To make hummus…

-In enchiladas


-As a side to a meal…

-To make “burgers”…



-To make “healthy” chocolate chip cookie dough dip



It seems as though the possibilities are endless!  Oh beans… I just can’t get over how good they are for you, how great they taste, and how little they cost!  I love that combo – healthy, tasty, and cheap.  I hope I’ve convinced you that you need to go stock up on beans now… Winking smile

      i have a chicken and black bean enchilada recipe too that i actually made just tonight for dinner! cody LOVES it too! i agree, they’re not the prettiest food ever, but they’re delicious! 😉
