Long time no see? As you may have noticed, I stepped away from the blog for a few days this weekend. I promise I’m still alive and well though.
There haven’t been many (or any?) times that I’ve decided last minute to unplug and step away from the blog for a period of time. In the past, I’ve had guest posts planned or posts scheduled for days I knew I’d be away, but this time was different. Come Friday, I just knew I needed to step away. I needed a break. I knew if I tried to write something, it’d come off as forced and that is the last thing I want for you or for this blog.
I was hesitant at first as I thought, “What will my readers think?” “Will my stats drastically decrease?” “Am I not fulfilling my goal to improve the success of this blog?” But then I quickly realized those reasons are not solely why I write this blog. Of course I hope this little blog will continue to grow and be successful, but I began writing it and want to continue writing it because I enjoy it. Simple as that. Writing helps me clear my head, I love sharing my thoughts, and the friendships and community I have made here have been such a blessing. I love sharing my passions and my journey through healthy living with others and hope that I can inspire others as well. Those are my primary reasons for this blog. All of the other reasons are simply the cherry on top.
After reflecting on this weekend, I was reassured even more that stepping away was what I needed. It gave me time to do some things that didn’t involve the computer like baking zucchini banana chocolate chip bread (oh.my.gosh.amazing!), going on long walks, catching up with friends that live far away, taking a nap, and spending quality time with my husband. It was absolutely necessary for me.

If you haven’t stepped away from your computer and/or blog (or maybe some other technological device!) for awhile, I challenge you to take a day or two, or maybe even a week to simply step away and savor the extra time you have with your family and friends. I promise you won’t regret it!
- What “thing” (i.e. blog, computer, smartphone, etc) do you have a hard time stepping away from?
- What did you do this weekend?
