Fun Fall Survey

by Ashley on September 29, 2012

Yay for the weekend!

I hope your Saturday is off to a great start! I kicked mine off with a delicious breakfast this morning. I made myself a couple pieces of French toast by dipping two thick slices of wheat bread in a whisked egg + cinnamon, cooked it on the stovetop, and then topped it off with some peanut butter, pumpkin butter, and a light drizzle of maple syrup. Oh boy!

I also treated myself to some pumpkin spice coffee. I’ve been staying away from the coffee for the most part since I found out I was pregnant, but I just couldn’t help myself this morning. I added some pumpkin pie spice in with the coffee grounds, poured a dash of milk in when it was done brewing, and was good to go. I savored every last sip!

I saw a fun fall survey on Annette’s blog yesterday who originally got it from Cait, and I knew I had to jump in on it. I love fall and I love surveys, so it was an easy given that I’d be participating.

Apple picking or pumpkin picking?

I’ve actually never been apple picking! Sad, right? Growing up in Arizona, we didn’t have much opportunity to go apple picking. I honestly think if it’s what I envision it to be, I’d enjoy apple picking more though. Plus, who doesn’t love some fresh off the tree apples?!

IMG_0857

Favorite apple recipe?

I love me some apple crisp. I hope to make Courtney’s version again in the near future as it was a hit last year.

Favorite pumpkin recipe?

Oh my, this is one of the toughest questions for me because I literally love almost anything pumpkin – particularly desserts and baked goods. My Pumpkin Banana Bread and any sort of pumpkin chocolate chip muffin or a pumpkin cupcake with cream cheese frosting is right up my alley.

Favorite soup recipe?

This is another difficult one… There’s so many soups that I love! My favorites are probably chili, creamy tomato soup, and minestrone soup. Ohh I also love split pea soup. Told you this was a hard one! Serve them in a sourdough bread bowl and they’re even better. Winking smile

IMG_1610

Football: on TV or in the stadium?

Every sport is better live! Watching them on TV can be fun too, especially at a good football party.

Favorite football team to cheer for?

I come from a pretty big football family (Go Green Bay!), and my husband is a die hard Chicago Bears fan (booo!) so we have quite the family rivalry going on. Our child is going to be as confused as ever as to who to root for – ha!

Daylight Savings Time – love it or hate it?

I love “fall back” but hate “spring forward”! An extra hour in my day is always appreciated, but losing an hour? Not so much.

How do your workouts change (if at all) during the fall months?

I love to be outside more as the weather cools off a bit but still isn’t unbearably cold, so I find myself taking more of my workouts outside. I’m actually thinking a run/walk might be on my agenda for this morning! Winking smile

Favorite Halloween candy?

Obviously Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!

Any fashion essentials for fall weather?

I love boots, sweaters, and scarves! I am definitely in the market for some new brown riding boots this year, but those will most likely have to wait until Christmas.

Do your meals change when the weather changes?

Absolutely! I tend to eat more oatmeal for breakfast, lunches typically stay the same, and dinners include a lot more soups and meals that involve the oven.

Favorite fall dinner?

Hmmm probably some sort of chili or soup with fresh baked bread. Yum!

Favorite fall dessert?

As I said above, a chocolate chip muffin or pumpkin cupcake topped with cream cheese frosting totally hits the spot!

Best thing about fall?

The cool (but not too cold) weather, pumpkin everything, and the changing leaves!

Worst thing about fall?

The shorter days! I do miss the early morning sunshine and longer evenings, but you can’t have it all, right?!

Best thing that will happen in fall 2012?

Quality time with the hubby! Unfortunately we aren’t able to be with family for Thanksgiving this year (we are going down to Arizona for Christmas though – yay!), so I’m trying to remind myself that I need to savor every last bit of time with Cody before we have a little baby in the picture come spring!

I am a huge fan of soup & bread during the fall! Yummm. I’ve dubbed Sundays as homemade soup and bread days through the winter. :)

I like that plan!

I savor my time with my coffee, too. I love the stuff, but I try to limit myself to a cup or two a day and really take the time to enjoy. It’s all about the simple pleasures :)

I love the cooler weather and the warmer food too — I feel that it’s much more soothing and wholesome than the “refreshing” tastes of summer.
And that french toast looks delectable!!

I love going apple picking! I wonder if there are any apple orchards in Utah? Lol I have no idea, I just know we have them out in the midwest! And I LOVE brown riding boots, I hope you get a great pair for Christmas!

I haven’t heard of any, but it won’t hurt to check! I hope I get some riding boots for Christmas too… :) *wink wink* parents and Cody!

I didn’t know you were a GB fan. I don’t think we can be friends anymore.

18 Ashley October 1, 2012 at 2:02 pm

Haha I thought you knew that! One of the first questions Cody asked me when we first started dating was if I was a Bears fan, and when I responded with, “No, I’m actually a Green Bay fan,” I thought he was going to leave me high and dry right there. Haha just kidding, but it does make for some interesting rivalry. ;)

fall is my absolute favorite season! love every single thing about it – especially candy corn.

Reply

Candy corn is most definitely a plus!

31 Angie @ Pint of Goals September 30, 2012 at 6:18 am

I also grew up watching the Packers but my husband isn’t an NFL fan and he’s not from WI, so we don’t really watch their games. We did see some of last week’s game – oh were people upset in WI!
Fall is a great season because it’s pretty, I like wearing jeans and sweaters (not boots though because I have big calves and short legs), and it means going back to school.

Apple picking forever and always and yes, a fantastic choice on reeses although I am a candy corn lady myself ;)

As for favourite apple recipe – I have to go with apple crisp, too. My mother-in-law’s, to be specific. SO delicious that you know it can’t be good for you ;)

I really don’t eat candy but I’m totally with you on the Reese’s. If I am going to dig into it I’m most definitely going to choose something with peanut butter and chocolate.

Reply

40 Ashley October 1, 2012 at 2:10 pm

I’m not a big candy person either, but I DO love chocolate… Specifically chocolate with peanut butter, hence my love for Reese’s. :)
