Well, it’s been a few weeks since my last WIAW (aka What I Ate Wednesday <—read all about it by clicking on the link) post, so I thought it was about time!
Yesterday was the start of our first big snow storm of the winter. If I’m being honest, I’m not a huge fan of snow, but I’ve learned to appreciate it and try my best to embrace it. Try is the key word. I could’ve been a sourpuss all day about the weather or shift my attitude and try my best to enjoy it. It ended up being a really nice and cozy day, and we enjoyed it to the fullest. It’s all about attitude, right? I’m pretty excited for Hunter to get a little older so we can go sledding and build snowmen together. At the end of the day, I realized that I do enjoy the snow when I don’t have to drive or go anywhere in it.
My day started out with a warm and comforting bowl of oatmeal. I topped my oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, a spoonful of peanut butter, and a splash of almond milk. And I totally forgot to snap a photo, but let’s be real, you’re not missing anything. It’s pitch black when I eat breakfast, and because of that, the photo quality is far from stellar.
I said my goodbyes to Cody as he headed off to work, cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast, and enjoyed my mug of coffee while doing my devotions and reading a few blogs. About a half hour later, it was time for Hunter to wake up. I fed him, changed him, and we played together for a little while on the floor. I also offered him a banana to munch on which was smeared all over the place within just a few short minutes. Good times. Then he had some independent play time while I caught up on a few emails and blog comments.
Next thing I knew, Hunter was rubbing his eyes, and it was time for his morning nap. I put him down, and popped in my Sara Haley Sweat Unlimited Workout DVD for a quick sweat session. P.S. I may or may not be having a giveaway for this DVD on Friday. Just sayin’. After my workout, I hopped in the shower and got ready for the day. I also snacked on a handful of salted roasted almonds.
Shortly after, Hunter woke up from his nap, and it was time for another nursing session.
My stomach was growling around noon, so I had some leftover Black Bean Butternut Squash Soup with a couple clementines and Amy’s Cheddar Bunnies on the side. It was the perfect lunch for a snowy and chilly day! While eating, I also fed Hunter some pureed butternut squash + applesauce.
I cleaned the bathrooms, threw in some laundry, and did a few other random chores around the house while Hunter played in his Jumperoo. Then we both headed into his bedroom to sort through some of his clothes that are too small for him (*tear*) and clean up his bedroom a bit. It was time for some more Mommy-Hunter play time, so we sang songs, danced to Christmas music, and rolled all over the floor.
Before we knew it, it was time for Hunter’s afternoon nap. After I put him down, I baked some banana bread, ate said banana bread, wrote part of this blog post, and put together Hunter’s new walker that my mom and stepdad sent him for Christmas. Productive nap time, wouldn’t ya say? I was pretty proud, if I do say so myself.
No, I didn’t eat it in the snow… Just thought it would be a pretty backdrop.
After Hunter woke up from his nap, I nursed him, and then of course he had to try out his new walker! Don’t worry, Grammy gave him permission to use it before Christmas. Verdict? He loved it! He’s still trying to figure out the whole walking thing. He mostly is just infatuated with the music and buttons on it. Best thing about it though? He started dancing to the music! It was easily the highlight of my day!
When we had enough with the walker, we played with some more toys on the floor for a bit before it was time for mom to cook dinner and Hunter to eat dinner. I typically will feed him while I work on dinner. Multi tasking at its finest! Chicken, Bacon, & Artichoke Pasta with Creamy Garlic Sauce was on the menu for Cody and me, and Hunter ate some pureed green beans with yogurt (yummm).
Cody arrived home from work right before 7 PM, and he played with Hunter and got him ready for bed while I finished up dinner. I went in to nurse him and lay him down, and then Cody and I sat down to dinner. We caught up on each other’s days and chatted for awhile before getting started on cleaning up the kitchen. (This meal was a huge hit, by the way!)
I finished up this blog post while Cody browsed the internet. Then we sat down to watch an episode of The Walking Dead on Netflix. I’m not a fan of the gory aspects of the show, but the suspense and drama pulls me into it. I also ate a few Oreos dipped in milk. Not sure how they ended up in my cart the other day at the grocery store.
Cody and I both read for a bit before turning off the lights for the night.
Supposedly today is going to be another snowy one. Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
Do you live in a place that snows? Do you like the snow?
What’s your favorite soup recipe? (I need more! I’m all about soup lately!)
Tell me one thing you did yesterday!
